Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
The Bottineau light rail project is an extension of the existing Blue Line that will provide a one-seat ride to the VA Medical Center, Mall of America and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, and will connect Minneapolis and the northwest communities with the region’s system of transit ways. An approximately 13-mile route will serve downtown Minneapolis, north Minneapolis, Golden Valley, Robbinsdale, Crystal and Brooklyn Park. Eleven new stations will be built in addition to Target Field Station with an estimated project cost of $1.496 billion, funded by a combination of federal, state and local resources. An estimated 2,500 construction workers will be needed to build the line, with $300 million estimated construction payroll. Service will begin in approximately 2021.
