HNA is seeking applicants for the 5 vacant Board seats; 2 from area 4 and 1 representative from each of areas 1, 3 and 6. See the map below for area definitions.
HNA is a growing place-based nonprofit organization committed to creating a prosperous and peaceful community that equitably benefits all of Harrison neighborhood’s diverse racial, cultural, and economic groups. We look for Board of Director members who are energetic and willing to help their community thrive.
If you live (homeowners and renters), own or manage a business within the Harrison boundaries you can nominate yourself (most common); or any HNA member can nominate a resident as an applicant for the Board at the next meeting of the Board on February 20, 2017.
The HNA Board of Directors will appoint a new Board member(s) at its March 20, 2017 meeting. The at-large and areas 1 and 3 replacements will serve until the May 2017 Annual Meeting where they are welcome to run for a full 2-year term. The area 4 and 6 representatives will serve out the remaining terms of those seats and may run for election at the Annual Meeting in May of 2018. This is a replacement appointment serving from December 2016 to April 2017. The appointed Board member can run to be elected to the seat at the April Annual Meeting and serve a full two-year term.

With over 20 years’ experience working with government agencies, political and nonprofit organizations, and inside the marketing communications industry, Dave Colling brings a community-focused approach to his work. Growing up in an economically challenged area of Detroit, MI, he learned first-hand the many benefits and challenges of building strong, inclusive communities.
Dave’s passion for community building started early and he took that passion into the world of politics, first as a volunteer and eventually as a highly sought after political strategist. Success managing Congressman Keith Ellison’s first campaign through the 2006 primary and general elections reinforced his belief that diversity is strength and the key to thriving neighborhoods and communities. Dave’s work with grassroots organizations has continued including his last position with the Nokomis East Neighborhood Association as their Program and Communications Manager. He is also a graduate student at Hamline University in the Masters of Nonprofit Management program.

HNA welcomes part-time organizer, Eric Wilson. Eric served as an AmeriCorps member with Cleveland Neighborhood Association, and served 3 years with Peace Corps in Costa Rica. Eric manages HNA's tool voucher and facade programs, as well as the neighborhood's community gardens.
Board of Directors
The HNA board is elected by residents and of Harrison Neighborhood annually. Each board member represents one of the six areas of Harrison and/or a particular business, institution or property in the neighborhood.
