Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
The Southwest light rail project is an extension of the existing Green Line that is an approximately 14.5-mile route serving the growing communities of Minneapolis, St. Louis Park, Hopkins, Minnetonka and Eden Prairie. Fifteen new stations will be developed with connections to streets and trails, attracting new residential and commercial development. The project budget is estimated at $1.77 billion, funded by a combination of federal, state, and local resources. Construction is expected to begin in 2017 with service predicted to being in 2020.
